CHURCH ROOF: All major work done! Remaining steps: closing out contract issues and waiting for the reseeded lawn to grow.

CHURCH HVAC SYSTEM: Getting ready to start the construction! Recent work: bids analyzed, amount approved by Pastoral and Finance Councils, project approved by Diocese, and construction contracts created. Next steps: sign contracts and begin work, with expected completion by October 15.

PARISH CENTER AIR QUALITY: Still in investigation mode because building permit for simple solution was not approved. More design and code investigation needed.

PARISH CENTER ROOF: Still dry with recent patch. Will continue patching as needed as part of a low-cost strategy for the next 2-3 years.

CHURCH HVAC SYSTEM: Moving ahead! Preliminary design completed and final design starting; installation expected by October 15th.

PARISH CENTER AIR QUALITY: Moving ahead! Project approved by Pastoral and Finance Councils; waiting for design approval by licensed engineer; installation of minor modifications expected by June 1st.

PARISH CENTER ROOF: Minor leak occurred again in roof! Now working on a solution.

CHURCH ROOF: it's happening! Cedar chakes being removed, vapor-retarding layer being installed, on top comes 3" of insulation and ventilation channel, and finally new asphalt shingles.

CHURCH ROOF: ready to go! Construction will start on October 5th and will be finished by December 15th.

PARISH CENTER ROOF: approach determined! Temporary, low cost repair being designed.

DETAILS: The yews surrounding the church and the dogwood tree at south entrance will be removed immediately in order to provide construction access and they will be replaced in the spring with yet undermined landscaping. Safety and security of the job site will be maintained by fencing around the work areas near the church and by dumpsters and secure storage in the west end of the parking lot. The contractor will work on the building in quadrants, first by removing the old cedar shakes and then by adding the new insulation decking and asphalt shingles.

CHURCH ROOF: making great progress. Asphalt shingle chosen as roof finish. Seeking bridge loan; final decision on proceeding this fall to be made by September 18th.

CHURCH BEAMS: almost done! Covering the beams ungoing until September 4.

CHURCH ROOF: moving steadily ahead! Bids to be received on September 1; parishioners' recommendatoins to be submitted no later than September 7; final decision on proceeding this fall to be made by September 14.

PARISH CENTER AIR QUALITY: some known, more to come! Although expected, asbestos not found in the disturbed ceiling areas; fungus testing results to be known on August 28.

PARISH CENTER ROOF: still thinking! observations of leaking roof conditions made on August 20; report to be submitted by September 8.

CHURCH BEAMS: Structural repairs completed; sealing and cladding the beams ongoing until Sept. 4.

CHURCH ROOF: Soliciting bids for several finishes until Sept. 1; parishioners' recommendations to be submitted no later than Sept. 7; final decision to proceed this fall to be made by Sept. 14.

PARISH CENTER AIR QUALITY: Asbestos and fungus testing samples taken on Aug. 14; results to be known on Aug. 28.

PARISH CENTER ROOF: Observations of leaking roof conditions made on Aug. 20; report to be submitted by Sept. 8.

We're underway! The beam project has begun. Exterior sections of the church beams are being stabilized, while safety scaffolding has been erected inside the church.

Updates

CAMPAIGN Pledge Redemption Phase: $694,644 (74%) has been received as of 9/30/11. Each household with a remaining balance will receive a reminder letter in March and September of each year through 2012.

CAMPAIGN Pledge Solicitation Phase: $935,979 pledged as of 2/28/10 by 268 households. The goal of $905,000 was exceeded! All excess funds will be saved in a capital reserve account for future work on the parish center.
